Export or save the vehicle stats history and driver-to-vehicle assignments for the full reporting window. Record when the data was saved and whether the export is complete.

Prove identity before distance
Map Samsara vehicle IDs to the fleet unit, VIN, fuel-card vehicle, and finance vehicle. Do not join on display names alone when names can change or repeat.

- Record match method and confidence
- Route one-to-many matches to a fleet reviewer
Use odometer observations carefully
A distance segment based on the first and last observations inside an assignment window can understate boundary mileage. Preserve the observation timestamps and explain the limitation.
- Normalize meters and miles
- Reject decreasing odometers unless a documented reset applies
- Flag large gaps and stale readings
